Bucks Assistant Coach: Ryan Johnerson
Coach Johnerson is a native of Bozeman and
played his American Legion Baseball for the Bucks from 1990-1995.
Ryan went on to play for Trinidad State Junior College as a middle
infielder from 1995-1997, winning two Region IX titles. While
attending Trinidad he was named an Academic All-American and Scholar
Athlete of the Year in 1997. During the summer after his sophomore
year Ryan played in Central America, enjoying the countries of Nicaragua
and Costa Rica. Ryan’s next stop was the University of Utah, a
Division I school in the WAC Conference, at the time. In 1999, Ryan
was a finalist for WAC Player of the Year. He was also a graduate,
graduating in Commercial Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in
Business Management. In June of 1999, he signed with the Cincinnati
Reds Organization. In his time with the organization Ryan played for
the Billings Mustangs, the Gulf Coast Reds, and the Clinton Lumber Kings.
Ryan also made a brief stint in the Seattle Mariners Scout League in
Southern California. Ryan’s last baseball adventure took him back to
Central America as a player/coach in 2004, enjoying Nicaragua, Guatemala,
and the island of Curacao in the Caribbean.
Throughout
Ryan’s post Bucks playing career, he has continued to be a part of Bozeman
Buck Baseball, nearly covering a decade. Also included in those
years Ryan was an assistant coach for Big Sky Baseball in 2001, and an
assistant coach at Midland Junior College, winning a Conference Title in
2002.
Ryan is
married to his beautiful wife Leah, whom he met in Midland, TX and has
three great kids, Caleb, Kayla and Autumn.
